Karnak Temple is considered one of the most important and largest Egyptian temples, as it is located on the eastern side of the Nile River in Luxor. Features of Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple is distinguished by the presence of ten edifices that were built by successive Egyptian kings over hundreds of years. The most famous of them is King Tuthmosis I, who built the fourth and fifth edifices, Queen Hatshepsut, who built the eighth edifice, and King Horemheb, who built the second, ninth, and tenth edifices.

There are also several famous obelisks inside the Karnak Temple, often covered with hieroglyphic inscriptions. The most important of these is the Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut. The obelisk is more than 29 meters long and weighs  about 320 Tons.

 

Also, one of the most important features of the Karnak Temple is the phenomenon of the sun perpendicular to the main axis of the Temple of Amun Ra, which falls on December 21 of every year, making it a tourist attraction to which tourists from all over the world flock to explore ancient Egyptian civilization. 

 

The sacred lake in Karnak Temple

The sacred lake in Karnak Temple takes the shape of a rectangle and is lined with stone, and there is a ladder to reach the water. One of the most important features of the Holy Lake is that the water does not dry up throughout the year. Even the water level has remained constant without increase or decrease for more than three thousand years, as it is eighty meters long and forty meters wide, which makes it a major tourist attraction.
